Bell to relaunch Solo Mobile brand

Years ago, each of the big three Canadian wireless carriers had their own discount brands. Rogers had Fido, Bell had Solo Mobile, and Telus had Koodo. Fido turned into something more than a discount service, and really all three have changed to an extent. Earlier this month we caught wind that Rogers would launch chatr, a truly discount brand, and it stood to reason that the others would follow suit. To that end, it came as no surprise when I read on Mobile Syrup that Bell would relaunch the Solo brand in order to compete with chatr.

There aren’t many known details at this point, other than the rates being somewhere along the lines of chatr. That could include the unlimited plans, talk for $35 aand talk & text for $45. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the two services launch at around the same time, giving Canadians a few options for cheap, basic cell phone service without contracts.

  1. STAY AWAY FROM SOLO MOBILE!

I just had a marketing call from Solo Mobile – and I am on the do not call list. Mike said hello and asked me how I was, I politely told him that I would save him some time, that I have mobile plan that I am happy with and am not interested in changing, he said “Why the FUCK did you pick up the phone then?” I hung up.

If that’s the attitude of the people that are selling their product, imagine what kind of customer care and respect the whole company, management and owners must have!

    I say STAY AWAY
