Bell charges $5 to block mobile porn
Hi there! If you're new to the site, you may want to subscribe to the the feed.
Kids are getting cell phones at younger and younger ages, so it stands to reason that parents are going to want a greater level of control over what they can and cannot do on cell phones. Kids might not like it, but hey, they’ve been handed a responsibility, and need to treat it as such. We all know what can be found on the Internet, and most of that can be found on the mobile Internet. Bell Canada is doing something about it. They’ll introduce a program whereby parents can block material they deem inappropriate for their kids.
Account holders will have the option of adding a $5 monthly charge to their prepaid or postpaid account to gain access to a dashboard. This will allow them to disallow certain sites, or types of sites, on phones they pay for. This, of course, includes porn, which was the inspiration of this video.
“As use of the internet on mobile phones grows, fuelled by the popularity of smartphones and the fast access speeds delivered by 3G networks, our clients have asked for tools to help them manage access,” said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice-president of products for Bell Mobility, in a statement.
“Bell Parental Control offers them content filtering capability on mobile phones for the first time in Canada.”
Hey, if material is intended for people 18 and over, there should be a means to enforce it, right?

Working for a mobile porn distributor and directory, I am all for blocking children’s access, but they should not charge for it.
