Bell buys up remainder of Virgin Mobile Canada

Did you know that Bell Canada owned 50 percent of Virgin Mobile Canada? They did, but not anymore. Instead, they own 100 percent of the company, having purchased the remainder for $142 million. This includes “long-term licensing agreements with the Virgin Group for continued use of the Virgin Mobile brand in Canada.” So it appears little will change, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. Who knows how Bell will tinker with the actual service offerings. Also coming along for the ride are Virgin’s customers. At the $142 million purchase price, apparently this is less than normal cellular cost of acquisition. So it’s a good deal for both parties. Let’s see if consumers see as positive results.
