Sprint and Motorola announce i1, but no word on Boost

A few weeks ago we heard rumors that the Motorola i1 would become the first Android-powered iDEN handset. That announcement came yesterday, and plans are to release the phone this summer. While we got our hopes up that the handset would be available on Boost Mobile, we’ve heard no such word yet. In fact, the Sprint page makes mention of Nextel but not Boost. It looks like, at least at first, this won’t make its way to prepaid. A few years ago, though, we wouldn’t have even considered the possibility, so that indicates how things have changed in prepaid. There’s hope yet for an Android handset. ]]>

If it did go to Boost, could you imagine the price. Who’s really going to be willing to pay over $500+ for a cell phone?

    Darryl Vaughn & mike freeman,
If this were going to go over to Boost, they could & would bring down the price.
As for the “dum dums” who paid $300 for the i9, I see it Boost’s site for $250, I just bought Boost Mobile’s Blackberry Curve 8330 for $250,with Sprint’s CDMA network, why bother with a phone that is just as much money and runs on the out dated iDEN network?

People want the IDEN phones for the TT. your blackberry 8330 has no PTT and yet you pay more money per month for it. I would love this phone to come out for nextel cause just like the 8350i blackberry there will be a way to convert it for use on boost mobile.
