Boost Mobile: New stores and commercials, update on texting
posted by Joe on May 22nd, 2009 - 7:28 am | Boost Mobile
Boost Mobile made some headlines this week for some various odds and ends. Rather than point out each in an individual post, we’re going to combine them here. For starters, Boost will open 50 retail stores in 2009. This includes one now, in Philadelphia, nine more in the first half of the year, and 40 others by year’s end. This is something we’ve known for a while, but which Boost has just officially announced. The first-half launch will include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Orlando and Philadelphia, while the second half will feature Charlotte, Columbus, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and San Francisco among many others.
Boost will also unveil two new commercials in their Unwronged ad campaign. This one will feature IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, and will debut during the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Boost is the major sponsor of Patrick’s car, which is painted with the company’s signature black and orange. You can check out a behind the scenes video here:
Finally, remember the texting delay issue Boost Mobile faced earlier this month? They promised to get things working by May 7. That was two weeks ago. So how are they doing? There’s a short thread on HowardForums in which users describe the progress they’ve seen with the issue. It appears that in many markets Boost has eradicated the problem. Yet in others users are still seeing long text messaging delays. Three commenters provided their geographic location, giving us a small idea of the progress. It appears that things have gotten better in Southeast Pennsylvania, Atlanta, and South Florida. Surely it’s been better in other markets, but these are the ones we can identify from user testimony.
