Boost Mobile Finally Expands BYOP

Although bringing your own device (BYOP) is something most prepaid users prefer, Sprint has never been as accommodating as other carriers. Sprint’s Virgin Mobile does not support BYOP at all (even with a Sprint device), while Boost Mobile allows a very random (and ever-changing) list of phones which can be activated, provided they are unlocked. This prepaid phone whitelist was recently expanded. Since last month, Boost has been allowing customers to activate some non-Sprint devices including:
 • iPhone 5, 5s, SE, 7 and 7 Plus from Verizon and Verizon MVNOs
 • iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and their MVNOs
 • Flashed Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and their MVNOs
You can find the full list of new devices, including the specific model numbers on this page. There have also been rumors that the company will begin activating the Motorola G4 and G4 Plus sometime soon as well, although there is no indication as to when this will happen. As a note, in order for any device to be activated on Boost Mobile, it must be unlocked and customers will have to have a Boost Mobile SIM card as well. SIM cards can be purchased at a Boost Mobile dealer for $10 each. BYOP is not available online. For more information, check out the Boost Mobile BYOP page.]]>
