AT&T launches video sharing service nationwide
posted by Stuart on July 27th, 2007 - 11:00 am | AT&T
AT&T has announced that they’re set to offer their mobile video sharing service nationwide. This makes perfect sense with the inception of the iPhone, as AT&T subscibers can now send live or recorded video to other AT&T subscribers. Just a few clicks, and that video of your buddy getting pepper sprayed can be sent to all of your friends on AT&T. And that is a sign of progress.
Of course, it won’t come free. It’s $4.99 per month for 25 minuges of usage, and $9.99 for 60 minutes. And for you prepaid subscribers out there — or those of you who don’t want to commit to that many minutes — you can get it on a prepaid basis for 35 cents per minute.
The service is also only available on select phones: LG CU500, and the Samsung a717 or a727 phones. As with all new programs, they plan to offer it on more phones in the future.
Another drawback (you knew there’d be one): it’s only available on AT&T’s 3G network, which isn’t yet fully developed. So you need a certain phone, a certain network, and some dough to take advantage of this service.

Actually, it doesn’t do anything for the iphone, which cannot take video with it’s camera.

True yes, you can’t take video with your iPhone. But once AT&T expands their service, you can send videos to an iPhone.
