Preach it, brother! That's why I have an unlocked Nokia smartphone (purchased from overseas) which has far more features than any US carrier-offered model (BLOWS away the iPhone, I get a laugh out of those smug fools who think they're hot sh*t with their iPhones but their overpriced junk can't do this and can't do that, functions that come standard on my device and that I can execute effortlessly.) Yet it cost me less than the unsubsidized price of the highest-end of the available US carrier-offered models. It's a secret the US carriers don't want the public to know, because they love to cripple the phones to sell back to you features/functions that were standard from the factory, and want total control of your usage so you can't avoid their usurious rates. I can use wi-fi on my smartphone to call someone with Skype or send SMS for FREE... anywhere in the world... you'll NEVER see that capability on a US carrier's phone unless they have it set up and locked-down so they can charge you through the nose for it. BTW most foreign cellular providers offer vastly superior service and features on *prepaid* (most of the world is on prepaid service) for MUCH lower cost, and do not lock phones; in fact in some countries it's ILLEGAL for a carrier to lock a phone. US wireless technology is uniformly 2-3 years behind the rest of the world because the carriers do not introduce a product without re-engineering to cripple it so they can get the maximum monetization. It's all about the almighty buck. A free country? I think not! Only if you are the CEO (robber baron) of a big corporation.

ATT wants you to get locked up in a 2 year contract.
So instead of making a little money from Internet ATT wants to make alot. Guess what T-Mobile will get my business. Look into unlocked phones or Nokia N series phones. These US corps won't tell you about these phone. Because they can't not control them. Control equals profits.
