AT&T adds LG Prime to GoPhone lineup

On Friday Engadget found a shot of a new LG handset, the prime, which it later found out was headed for AT&T GoPhone. Yesterday afternoon a Howard Forums user pointed to AT&T’s website, on which the Prime appeared. It’s an all-touch model that features a three-inch screen at 400 x 240 pixels, a 2 megapixel camera, and multimedia capabilities — including AT&T Mobile Music — with the capacity to hold a 16GB microSD card. It doesn’t appear that this one will run on 3G, though that’s not a huge issue for AT&T prepaid. You can get it for $99.99 at AT&T’s website.]]>

It’s only $100.? Sounds like a good deal to me.! And it’s one of the first touch screen phones for GoPhone. Is it sold in stores.? If so, I’ll go and cop one ASAP.!!!

Oh, wait, the LG Neon is a touch screen phone, but only for dialing.

There aren’t a lot of reviews on this model yet, and I don’t know how I feel about all touchscrene yet….so I don’t know about this one yet.

Amazon has the LG Prime for $79.99 and it comes with a $50 phone card – and I found out that I can take the SIM card out of my current phone and use it in the Prime once I use up the $50. NOTE: this is a Go Phone – prepaid only – AT&T has an unlimited plan but it is $3 per day access fee .

  10. allie on July 5, 2010 at 7:54 pm

Its also available at Best Buy

  11. terry on July 5, 2010 at 11:54 pm

well bought this to replace a broken samsung eternity, its pretty good phone,
it works on edge which is better in my area, 3G phones have trouble here, every
since ATT went to 3G service has been poor, this phone has two big problems,
the browser is VERY slow to render, if you scroll down a web page you see a checkered
screen for about 1 or two seconds, then the web page appears, seems to be a slow processor,
also touch screen way to sensitive , I have had it a week and may have to return it
because texting is a nightmare because of sensitivity of screen, does not seem to be a way
    to adjust sensitivity.

I will fart all over my old phone and get this phone. Maybe Joannie will buy it for me if I cook her a burger!!!

  14. Dennis on July 15, 2010 at 7:01 pm

I purchased one today. It is a great little phone with a lot of basic features. Texting on the screen takes some getting used to, at least the send button doesn’t get in the way.

  15. Corey on July 20, 2010 at 5:20 am

I was wondering if you can send and recieve songs and pics through bluetooth on this phone?

  16. Lara on July 22, 2010 at 9:42 am

I just got this phone from Amazon for 79.99 (the store was selling it for $110…sike!) and it’s awesome! I can’t believe it’s a GoPhone AND Touchscreen. And you can put your old sim card in the phone and still get the $50 airtime.

  17. Sophie on July 25, 2010 at 10:35 am

I purchased one 3 weeks ago and I love it! I was gonna get an Iphone but that one will do it for a while. And the pics quality is great!

  18. will on July 30, 2010 at 11:11 am

buy the phone at amazon.com. $79.99 vs $99.99 at Best Buy and you dont pay sales tax of shipping charges.
Be careful inserting your old SIM. Your current service MUST be at least six months old and you must NOT have received any airtime credit from ATT for the past six months in order to be eligible for the $50 airtime credit.

    It’s a great phone!
Mine is suppose to come in tomorrow, can’t wait.

Yea good phone for a basic, runs very much like the LG Dare that was offered by Verizon but of course dumbed up a bit. Yes it’s only Edge network so it’s not going to be as fast as the 3G network. Bluetooh is 2.0 and yes you can transfer stuff (music, ringtones, pics) between other phones as long as they are not copywrited. I think the widgets are a useless. The FM radio tuner is a cool feture for those that don’t want to burn up web time. The speaker is good for listening to music and the radio with out ear buds. Yes the QWERTY keyboard is touchy during texting, but you shouldn’t be mashing the screen anyways. I think the phone should have come with the USB cable so you could transfer music and pics to and from the phone eaiser. And yes if you have a normal AT&T account you can simply take your sim card out of your old phone and put it into this one and it will work. For a GoPhone I’ll say 7/10 for a phone of these times I’ll give it a 5/10. But for either $79 or $99 it’s a great deal!

  21. Sherry on August 16, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Did you ever have to put the new SIM card in it? I currently have an AT&T pay as you go and I ordered this phone to replace it. If I only put my old SIM in it, will it activate and will I get the credit? I am trying to avoid going to the local AT&T store.

  22. Toni on August 24, 2010 at 7:12 pm

I think I’m going to get this and transfer my number from my current LG Neon to it. Miss my old LG that was touch screen, I love touch screen phones. And this has all the same features as my neon plus an fm radio on top of it.

just got this about 2 days ago and LOVE IT! some one said they cant change the sensetivity of the touch screen thats wrong its in the settings menu the phone has a cam ya every ones says it but no one has comented on the editing software the phone has it is awsom add text, frames, blur, auto corect many things including color contrast. and you can shoot upto 15-20 of video on internal memory and a whole lot more if u add a micro SD card,
if you are a texter and want to read old text its awsomly easy u just scroll with the touch screen and “your”text is a talk bubble on one side and “their” text is in a bubble pointing the other way its soo cool i could go on and on about this phone but if i had to find something wrong whith it it would be the screen may be hard to see in bright sunlight other than that it awsome i got mine for 99.98 from wal-mart and yes it includes $50.00 airtime in my area it is $2.00 a day (that u use it)
for unlimited talk text pic, video, sound msg and includes IM with yahoo gmail aol etc. or you can pay $60.00 a month
