Rumored: Alltel outage in Minnesota
Hi there! If you're new to the site, you may want to subscribe to the the feed.
I neither live in Minnesota nor have Alltel, so I have no way to verify this. It appears, though, that Alltel’s network has been out in Minnesota for quite some time. You can still send and receive text messages, and even receive calls. The problem, apparently, is outgoing calls. A couple of people wrote into Consumerist to describe and verify the problem. The mainstream media has yet to pick up on this, which is strange, because they seem to love reporting outages. So I’m not quite sure how widespread this is.
The information, fourth-hand by the time you’re reading it here, originates with customer service. So unless we”re getting some telephone effects, this one has teeth. Once I see it somewhere else, I’ll update the post.

I know that we are having a nasty outage in south carolina, I can’t receive calls, or texts, but i can make calls and receive texts.. makes no sense to me. They say they are working on it and that they have 72 hours to get it repaired. That doesn’t help me much though. What am I supposed to do with out my phone for 3 days??

I live in the twin cities and have alltel. Ive been digital roaming for over a month now and Alltel just now today said they would start giving me a 50.00 credit everymonth(OMG this is gonna drag out I can just see it) untill the issue is fixed. my service is choppy and dropped calls are an issue sending text messages to my wife on her alltel cell phone here is having issues also.Alltel blames it on a sprint tower that is having problems.
